New principals in Mancelona

TRAVERSE CITY — Two new administrators will lead Mancelona’s public middle and high schools when students return to class next month.

Tina Frollo, a former Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District school psychologist, will serve as principal at Mancelona Middle School, and Larry Rager, a longtime math and science teacher at Mancelona Public Schools, will take over at the district’s high school.

MPS Superintendent Jeff DiRosa said both administrators will help district efforts to improve classroom instruction.

“We’re focusing in on excellent instruction, so they will help train teachers in every possible way to be the best instructors they can be,” DiRosa said.

Frollo worked in Mancleona schools for four years through TBAISD prior to accepting the middle school principal position. She will replace Chad Culver, who left the district at the end of last year for other work, DiRosa said.

Rager has coached basketball in Mancelona for 12 years and golf for several years in addition to teaching in the district. He’s replacing Gerald Clark, who retired in June after 28 years with the district. Students and parents can meet teachers and administrators at their respective buildings during the district’s Meet the Teacher Night on Sept. 4.

The high school’s doors will open at 5 p.m., the middle school’s at 5:30 p.m. and the elementary school’s at 6 p.m.

The first day of school is scheduled for Sept. 5.
