---- — SUTTONS BAY — A 31-year-old Maple City man involved in a two-vehicle accident in Solon Township was arrested on drunken driving charges.

Authorities said that on Sunday just after 9 p.m. the suspect’s vehicle crossed the center line heading south on a curve South Cedar Road into oncoming traffic. The act prompted a 23-year-old Kingsley man to drive his minivan onto the shoulder, though he couldn’t avoid a collision, said Leelanau Sheriff’s Department Lt. Clint Kerr.

“The guy still got him,” he said.

The minivan rolled over and its driver received a cut to the head, for which he denied treatment.

The Maple City man claimed the minivan was in his lane, but authorities said the evidence showed otherwise. The suspect showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. A blood-alcohol test gave a result of .17 percent.

Kerr said the suspect bonded out of Leelanau County Jail and will be arraigned soon on a charge of operating while intoxicated with a high blood-alcohol content.
