Probation for woman after Walmart lot fight

TRAVERSE CITY — A woman who fought with her boyfriend and apparently tried to run him over in a Walmart parking lot will serve a year probation.

Heather Kaley, 22, of Traverse City, pleaded guilty to a single count of domestic violence for the January incident. She was sentenced Wednesday in 86th District Court.

Authorities said Kaley and her then-boyfriend got into a fight in the Walmart parking lot off South Airport Road. He deliberately broke her phone, and she began to punch and choke him, a witness told deputies.

They got into their car and Kaley, in the driver’s seat, began to speed off. Her boyfriend opened the door to get out and a tire ran over his leg, deputies said. A witness said Kaley then tried to run him over and he jumped into a snowbank.

He refused medical treatment for a gash in his leg.

Kaley is not to have contact with the victim.
