TRAVERSE CITY — Four final candidates were selected Saturday in the 2014 National Cherry Queen competition:
- Chelsea Lajko. A 2008 graduate of Kingsley High School and a social work enrollee at Michigan State University.
- Alyssa Veliquette. A 2013 graduate of Elk Rapids High School and a social work student at Cornerstone University.
- Stasha Yancho. A 2011 graduate of Traverse City West Senior High and an international studies and Russian language and literature student at the University of Michigan.
- Elise Zagore. A 2013 graduate of Traverse City West Senior High and an art student at Northwestern Michigan College.
The four women will participate in several National Cherry Festival events beginning July 5 and leading up to the coronation ball Friday, July 11, at the Hagerty Center. The current queen is Sonya Sayler.
