GRAWN — A Pontiac man is wanted on accusations from Grand Traverse County that he tried to sexually assault a sleeping teenage relative.
Michael Warren Murphy, 37, faces an arrest warrant on a felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge in 86th District Court.
A police report states that the victim, 14, who is related to Murphy, told authorities she visited a relative's Grawn home with him in late December. She said before she went to sleep that Murphy gave her Nyquil and a Mike's Hard Lemonade, an alcoholic drink, and encouraged her to drink.
She awoke to find Murphy with his head on her stomach and hands on her chest and inner thigh, according to court documents.
"She then explained once she woke up she jumped out of bed and went to the bathroom," the report states.
The police report states Murphy threatened suicide with a handgun after the incident and asked the victim to not tell anyone. State troopers received a report about the incident in February and interviewed the victim.
Grand Traverse County prosecutors authorized the charge this week. It carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
Murphy hadn't been arrested as of Friday.
