TRAVERSE CITY — Electric crews battled power outages Monday after wind gusts and downed trees knocked power lines out across the region.
About 400 Cherryland Electric Cooperative members along South Airport Road and Veterans Drive were without power beginning at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, member services manager Rachel Johnson said.
“We restored that outage incrementally and had that all back on by about 12:30 p.m.,” Johnson said. “A lot of it is trees as a direct result of wind.”
Smaller isolated outages continued throughout the afternoon, including outages in Williamsburg, Copemish, Brethren, Grawn and Lake Ann. Each outage affected 60 members or less and were restored by 4 p.m. Monday, Johnson said.
Consumers Energy reported an outage of 411 customers between Honor and Empire Township at about noon Monday, according to the Consumers Energy Outage Map.
