Register now for Jingle Bell run

TRAVERSE CITY — Registration is open for the Jingle Bell Run.

The 5K run/walk is scheduled for Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m. beginning and ending at Park Place Hotel.

The course winds through downtown streets and is noncompetitive and not timed. Runners and walkers are given bells to tie to their shoes. Afterward, there will be pizza and appetizers at the Park Place. Participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to go to Goodwill.

Single entries are $15; families of three or more can register for $30. Pick up a form at either Running Fit location — 300 E. Front St. or 3301 S. Airport Road W. — or print out a registration form at www.tctrackclub.com.

Ski, snowboard school signup starts

TRAVERSE CITY — The Record-Eagle and Kiwanis Club of Traverse City are once again offering a Ski and Snowboard School.

Registration is open for a range of classes that run Jan. 4 through Feb. 3. There are classes for children who have never skied up to snowboarders in grades 3-9.

Fees range from $35 for ski lessons without rental to $55 for snowboard sessions with rental. Registration is first come, first serve; waiting lists will be established. All lesson times are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mt. Holiday, 3100 Holiday Road, Traverse City.

696 delivered, 350 served

TRAVERSE CITY — Totals are in for the 21st annual Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner.

Volunteers delivered 696 dinners and served 350 people at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thanksgiving Day. Plans are under way for the Community Christmas Day Dinner. For details or to lend a hand, call Sandra Svec, 276-7130.
