Tabu Lounge shuts its doors

Closure won't alter plan for area surveillance

TRAVERSE CITY — A contentious downtown late-night club is closed less than three months after it opened, but city officials said that won't change a plan to install surveillance cameras in the area. Tabu Lounge opened in January in a building along an alley behind Union Street Station. The non-alcoholic club offered "showgirls" in lingerie on Friday and Saturday nights, and advertised hookah smoking until local health officials nixed that component.
