Today at the Cherry Festival: 07/09/2014

7:30 a.m. Business Before Hours: All regional business owners and staffers to join in a special networking opportunity over coffee and cherry-infused breakfast treats, offered by Grand Traverse Pie Co. Smith, Haughey, Rice & Roegge Law Offices, 101 North Park Street.

8 a.m. The Sarah Hardy Downtown Farmer’s Market is relocated at the Old Town Parking Deck at 125 E. Eigth Street during festival week.

8:30 a.m. Cherry Tee Golf Clinic: Head Golf Professional Scott Hebert leads the one-hour clinic at the Resort’s Golf Academy. $25 per person. Proper golf attire required. Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, Golf Academy, 100 Grand Traverse Village Boulevard, Acme.

8:30 a.m. Stand Up Paddleboarding Lessons Sprints, Kids Demonstrations: Beginner SUP 101 Lessons, One on One 100 yard sprint races, and a free kids’ demonstration. Meet by the beach at Clinch Park, just north of Park Street.

9 a.m. Fun and Games for Special Kids: A fun-filled morning for hearing, visually, physically impaired, and developmentally disabled children. Activities include pie making, an obstacle course, face painting and a trip to the Midway. Festival Open Space.

9 a.m. Seniors’ Shuffleboard Tournament: Equipment provided, or bring your own. Must be 50 or older. Prizes awarded to top finishers. Traverse City Senior Center Network, 801 E. Front Street.

9 a.m. Traverse City History in the Movies: Learn about the history of Traverse City, including the National Cherry Festival and Con Foster. Admission is free. Bijou by the Bay, 181 E. Grandview Parkway.

10 a.m. A Walk Through the National Cherry Festival Exhibit. Corner Loft, 201 E. Front Street.

10 a.m. DTE Energy Program. Festival Open Space Park Food Court area at Grandview Parkway and Union Street.

10 a.m. Kids Club: Free activities for children ages 2-12. Behind the Bijou Theater.

10 a.m. Cherry Connection--Bringing Together Festival, Farm, and Fruit: Visit a productive orchard in Leelanau County at the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Station. Guided orchard tours, exhibits of newest cherry products and technology. Cherry Connection Shuttle will pick up on the west side of the Traverse City Visitor’s Center on Garland Street starting at 9:30 and leaves every half-hour until noon.
