It takes a community to bring the National Cherry Festival to life. Aaron Senak served as a Festival Ambassador, working on the Green Team clean-up crew. Originally from Houghton Lake, Senak is a patient at the Lighthouse Neurological Rehabilitation Center in Traverse City. One year ago, on July 4, he was struck by a vehicle pulling a trailer and suffers from relapses of the accident. This is his first time at the Cherry Festival and he wanted to volunteer as part of his rehabilitation.
"I enjoy what I do," he said. "This is for the people. Volunteering makes me more responsible for everything I've been through and it's an open door for other people."
