TRAVERSE CITY — A magistrate dismissed citations against two Traverse City brothers who faced fines for singing in downtown Traverse City without a permit.
Brothers Kewayden Brauker, 19, and Maayingan Brauker, 17, will be let off the hook, according to Traverse City Police Capt. Mike Ayling.
86th District Court Magistrate Tammi Rodgers decided in an informal hearing Tuesday that the brothers' First Amendment rights trump the city ordinance that requires street performers to obtain an annual permit, Ayling said.
