TRAVERSE CITY — A Traverse City woman faces felony charges after her bank account grew by $3,000, thanks to a strangely dated check.
The trustee of the Roland Habrecht Trust reported that Marlena Theresa McCall, 70, deposited a suspicious trust check just after Habrecht died in January 2009, according to court documents.
The check was dated December 2009, 11 months after it was cashed, and raised flags for the trustee, according to the documents.
A warrant is out for McCall, who is suspected of forgery and uttering and publishing, both 14-year felonies. McCall did not have check-writing authority for the trust, the trustee reported.
A Michigan State Police official analyzed the handwriting on the check and couldn’t tell who signed it. McCall filled out the other information, according to the documents.
