Flood watch issued for GT area

TRAVERSE CITY — The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for northern Michigan starting tonight.

Forecasters expect two to four inches of rainfall in the Grand Traverse region through Saturday.

The rain combined with continuing snowmelt and already high river levels could lead to flooding, especially around rivers, streams and low-lying areas, said Andy Sullivan, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
