TRAVERSE CITY — City Manager Ben Bifoss will finish his career at Traverse City with a Monday meeting marked by routine items void of controversy.
The city commission will hold a public hearing for amendments to the current year budget that ends June 30, a housekeeping matter that reflects no unexpected changes to the budget, said city Treasurer Bill Twietmeyer.
The city commission is expected to cancel its regular June 24 study session, which traditionally focuses on its evaluation of the city manager and city attorney.
Bifoss officially will retire June 28, but will fill out his tenure with vacation beginning June 19. His colleagues hosted his going away party on June 14.
“When they give you a going away party, you really should go away,” Bifoss quipped.
His replacement Jered Ottenwess, begins work July 22. Makayala Vitous, assistant city manager, will take over as acting city manager in the interim.
