Teen dies after ski slope accident

HARBOR SPRINGS — Authorities say a 17-year-old girl has died following a snowboarding accident at Boyne Highlands Resort in Michigan's northwestern Lower Peninsula.

Kasandra Knapp, of Alanson, was on a beginner-rated slope Sunday afternoon at Boyne Highlands Resort near Harbor Springs when she fell, the Petoskey News-Review reported.

The newspaper said she was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital in Petoskey, where she died.

Knapp was a senior at Inland Lakes High School in Indian River.
