A team of students from Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District recently won a $1,000 prize in a regional competition to create a stroke awareness video.
Participants were asked to make a 60-second public service video that would help viewers recall stroke symptoms and know how to respond to the symptoms, a press release states.
The TBAISD team was comprised of Mallory Heiges, Alex Burch and Caleb Breithaupt, all seniors at Traverse City West Senior High School.
Value Health Partners, a group of state health care organizations that includes Munson Healthcare, sponsored the competition.
TBAISD teacher Scott Tompkins said the prize money will be used to upgrade equipment in the film program.
