Boyne Highlands opens season with free skiing today

HARBOR SPRINGS — You know it must be winter when Boyne Highlands Resort announces that it's open for business, with free skiing and snowboarding today.

The Highlands is open today from noon to 4:30 p.m., according to a resort press release. Its Heather slope will be open with lift service on the high-speed Heather Express quad. More terrain should be open by Friday.

Boyne officials said that several nights of cold weather have made it possible to make snow around the clock to prepare for today's opening.

Tickets for today's free skiing and riding are available at the Resort's Main Lodge. On Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 28 and 29, lift hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets on those days will be $25 for ages 9 and older and free for children 8 and younger and seniors 70-plus.
