Judge won't dismiss suit against sheriff

SUTTONS BAY — A federal judge wouldn't dismiss a lawsuit filed against Leelanau County Sheriff Mike Oltersdorf.

U.S. District Judge Janet T. Neff in an order released Tuesday wouldn't grant Oltersdorf's motion for summary judgment in a case involving allegations that Oltersdorf illegally invaded the privacy of some sheriff's department employees. It is scheduled for trial in February.

Several current and former deputies filed suit against Oltersdorf, Undersheriff Scott Wooters and Leelanau County in 2009.
