TRAVERSE CITY — An annual disc golf tournament will honor Carly Lewis.
The two-day tournament takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Carly Jean Lewis Playground at Mt. Holiday Ski Resort. Todd Lewis, the teen’s father, opened the 18-hole course after Carly was murdered in 2011 shortly before her 17th birthday.
Youth, novice, recreational and advanced disc golf players are invited. Players can register for $30 on Saturday. Registration for the pro and amateur doubles tournament Sunday is $60 per team.
Registration will be 8-9 a.m. both days. Jimmy John’s will provide lunch.
Family and friends will celebrate Carly’s 19th birthday Saturday with cake and ice cream.
Proceeds benefit the Carly Jean Lewis Playground nonprofit, which promotes disc golf as a healthy activity for youth and designs and installs professional courses.
