Five injured in Antrim County crash

MANCELONA — Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle crash in rural Antrim County that sent five Mancelona residents to the hospital.

The crash occurred Saturday along Alden Highway near the Custer Township hall.

Antrim County sheriff’s deputies believe Ginger Leroy MacBrien-Scott, 62, made a left turn toward the hall and into the path of a Chrysler driven by James Vernon Meadows, 15.

Meadows’ vehicle struck MacBrien-Scott’s Chevrolet Tahoe in the front passenger side. MacBrien-Scott, Meadows and three passengers in both vehicles were transported to Munson Medical Center for their injuries or evaluations after the crash.

Emergency crews had to free Michael Scott Meadows, 18, from his front passenger seat in James Meadows’ vehicle. He suffered a broken left leg and a head injury in the crash. He remains in fair condition at the hospital and is only crash victim who hasn’t been released.

Another Meadows passenger — Megan Paige Meadows, 16 — also suffered a head injury. A fourth passenger, Alexis Scott Meadows, 11, walked away without injuries.

MacBrien-Scott’s sole passenger Lewis John MacBrien, 21, complained of pain.
