Election Roundup

Antrim County

Antrim County voters supported Elk Rapids Schools' bond request, but the measure fell by 12 votes after tallies from other counties within the Elk Rapids district.

Benzie County

(Crystal Lake Township did not report its results by press time. Results do not include ballots from that township.)

County voters rejected a 1.5 mill increase to fund county law enforcement.

County voters approved a .0892 mill renewal for animal control services for four years.

Benzie residents approved a 1 mill increase for road improvement for five years that would raise an estimated $1.1 million in the first year.

Frankfort residents elected JoAnn Holwerda, Robert Johnson, and Paul Luedtke to city council.

Frankfort residents approved a 1 mill increase for fire and rescue for five years.

Benzonia Township residents approved a fire protection and emergency medical services millage renewal of 1 mill for the next five years.

Inland Township residents voted against a millage for its parks and recreation of up to .5 mills for up to five years.

Inland Township residents also approved an increase of 1.5 mills for fire equipment for up to five years.

Benzie residents who live within the Traverse City Area Public Schools voted against issuing TCAPS $35,230,000 in tax bonds.

The same voters defeated a TCAPS request of $12,975,000 in tax bonds to build and outfit an auditorium at Central High School.

Grand Traverse County

Grand Traverse County voters approved a $13 million-plus tax request to repair Grand Traverse County roads on a vote of 8,809 to 8,697 votes. Voters approved a 1-mill increase for three years.

Voters defeated a Traverse City Area Public Schools request for $35,230,000 in tax bonds. They also defeated a TCAPS request for $12,975,000 in tax bonds.

Traverse City residents elected Mayor Michael Estes and Ross Richardson, Tim Werner, and Gary Howe as city commissioners. They re-elected Michael Estes as mayor.

Residents of Whitewater Township voted against an Elk Rapids schools request for up to $10,880,000 tax bonds for Elk Rapids school facilities.
