Yesterday’s 40-degree weather will seem far, far away as temperatures fall to about 12 degrees by 11 a.m. today. Wind chill values could be as low as minus 6 with blustery winds and gusts as high as 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Gaylord.
“Traverse City is falling back into the teens and not budging much throughout the day with another piece of arctic air coming in,” meteorologist Nick Schwartz said.
Temperatures should creep back up into the 20s on Thursday, and Friday will bring some relief with partly sunny skies and temperatures nearing 40 degrees, Schwartz said.
Keep your winter coat handy because temperatures are expected to drop back into the low 20s by Saturday night.
“This reoccurring pattern of arctic intrusion seems to continue,” Schwartz said. “After Friday, another shot of arctic air will come in for the weekend.”
