Paw Paw man faces sex crime charge

INTERLOCHEN — A Paw Paw man is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl during a summer camping trip at Interlochen State Park.

Marion Oscar Johnson, 66, faces a warrant on a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge with a victim between the ages of 13 and 15.

Eighty-sixth District Court documents state the incident occurred July 8 while the victim camped with her grandparents at Interlochen State Park. The victim told authorities she slept on couch in a camper trailer and awoke to find Johnson lying on her legs and in the midst of a sexual assault.

“She immediately got up, exited the trailer and ran to the camp bathrooms where she called 911 on her cell phone,” the documents state.

Johnson’s wife is the victim’s grandfather’s sister, according to the documents.

Third-degree sexual conduct is punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment.
