Attorney to appear for drug possession sentencing

BELLAIRE — An Antrim County lawyer who handled court-appointed work will find himself on the other end of the judicial process.

Ross Hickman, 63, is scheduled to appear in 86th District Court on Monday for sentencing on a marijuana possession conviction. Court Administrator Carol Stocking said all three district judges excused themselves from the case.

Petoskey’s 90th District Court Judge James Erhart will sit in the Bellaire courtroom on Monday.

Stocking said Hickman handles misdemeanor cases for Antrim County clients who can’t afford their own representation. She said the court hasn’t decided how the sentencing will impact his contract.
