Detectives continue to pursue Boyce tip

TRAVERSE CITY — Police haven't ruled out a new tip in the unsolved hit-and-run death of Traverse City bicyclist Kelly Ann Boyce.

Capt. Mike Ayling said the tip came from a mechanic outside Grand Traverse County who reported noticing something "suspicious" on a vehicle. He said detectives conducted a visual inspection of the vehicle and could request additional forensic tests.

"It's still not nothing," Ayling said.

Boyce, 29, died early July 5 after a motorist struck and killed her as she pedaled down Washington Street. More than 600 tips to police came from the public after Boyce's death, and Ayling said about 30 remain open.
