TRAVERSE CITY — Classes at Elk Rapids’ Mill Creek Elementary should resume today after the school’s heating system is repaired.
The school was closed Tuesday after the building’s boiler went out late Monday night, and it will remain closed today.
The closure affects about 230 pre-kindergarten to fifth grade students, Elk Rapids Superintendent Steve Prissel said.
“It became a major concern with the cold temperatures,” Prissel said. “We were really fearful if it was going to be a week or two, we were going to look at ways we could utilize the other buildings.”
So long as there are no snags in repairs, Mill Creek Elementary students will be back in class today.
