TRAVERSE CITY — Students in Leelanau County will have a second day without school.
Officials from public school districts throughout the county decided to close schools Tuesday due to expected icy roads, poor visibility and well-below zero wind chill temperatures.
"We don’t want kids standing out by the roads when people can’t see them and can’t stop quickly," Suttons Bay Public Schools Superintendent Mike Murray said.
The largest school district in the region, Traverse City Area Public Schools, is expected to make a decision on Tuesday's schedule later today.
See Tuesday's Record-Eagle for more news on school closings and winter weather.
