Man charged with drunken driving

TRAVERSE CITY -- A Kingsley man is charged with drunken-driving.

Richard Allen Brown, 55, is charged with third-offense drunken driving, operating with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with an open intoxicant.

A Grand Traverse Sheriff's Department deputy stopped Brown Dec. 13 on Sawyer Road in Blair Township after noticing a defective tail light, court records show. The deputy allegedly noticed beer cans in the vehicle and said Brown had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol.

Brown has five drunken driving convictions dating back to 1982, court records show.
