Charges authorized for alleged retail fraud

ELK RAPIDS -- Prosecutors in Antrim County have authorized felony charges against an Ellsworth man accused of retail fraud.

Authorities are seeking two charges of first-degree retail fraud and a charge of being a habitual offender against Roger Bertram Barnes Jr., 39, court records show.

Barnes allegedly took an item from the Village Market in Elk Rapids in October, and then tried to return it for cash. Records show that Barnes has nine prior felony convictions.
