KALKASKA -- State police identified the victims of a fatal traffic crash in Kalkaska County.
Mikayla Gray, 11, and her sister Kendra Gray, 9, both of South Boardman, died Thursday when a vehicle driven by their mother, Patricia Mensinger, 29, east on Boardman Road struck a vehicle heading north on M-66, said Trooper Jim Abel of the state police Kalkaska post.
A third child, Troy Gray, 10, remains in serious but stable condition at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Abel said.
Mensinger and the driver of the other vehicle, Karen Daily, 60, of Grand Rapids, were treated and released from Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Both girls died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Abel said witnesses have told police Mensinger's vehicle allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign.
