New bishop to be installed this week

GAYLORD -- The incoming bishop of the Diocese of Gaylord will be installed this week.

A ceremony for Monsignor Bernard A. Hebda will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord. Tickets will be limited, and the event will be broadcast on Fox 32, or Channel 3 for Charter Communications customers.

The diocese also will hold a liturgy at 6 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Cathedral, which will be open to the public.

Pope Benedict XVI chose Hebda to replace outgoing Bishop Patrick R. Cooney in October.
