October 04, 2008 12:00 am TRAVERSE CITY -- Brown Bridge Pond will be lowered by 31/2 feet as a safety measure for the Brown Bridge dam. The pond on the Boardman River will be lowered by about 2 inches each day starting Monday. Engineers with a city-contracted firm recommended the drawdown after determining the embankments need repairs. The city plans to hold back on any work in order to hear recommendations from the Boardman River Dams Committee, a local group examining whether repair, modify or remove four dams along the river. City officials warned that exposed bottomlands are fragile and could be unstable for pets and people.
