Justice Weaver moves offices

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth A. Weaver is relocating her offices.

Weaver, who rents an office in the Bayview Professsional Centre near the intersection of M-72 and M-22, will move to the state office building on Elmwood Avenue near the Grand Traverse Commons by the end of the year. The move is expected to save about $67,000 a year in rent, officials said.

The court under former Chief Justice Clifford Taylor voted in November to close Weaver's Traverse City office. Taylor was defeated in the November general election by Marilyn Kelley, and the court later voted to retain the office.

Weaver, of Glen Arbor, said she planned to move to state-owned property when space became available. The state Department of Agriculture is closing regional offices in the state building, officials said.
