September 24, 2008 12:00 am TRAVERSE CITY -- More than 100 representatives from museums across the state are in Traverse City this week for the annual conference of the Michigan Museum Association. The event is being held at the Park Place Hotel. "We last hosted the MMA conference in Traverse City in 1992 a year after the Dennos Museum Center opened," said Gene Jenneman, executive director of the Dennos Museum and chairman of this year's MMA conference. "We are pleased to welcome members of the state's museum community back to the Grand Traverse region." The conference began Tuesday and continues through Thursday. Highlights include a keynote address from Harold Skramstad, an author and former president of the Henry Ford Museum and director of the Chicago Historical Society. There's also a reception and dinner at the Dennos Museum and tours of historic areas in the Grand Traverse region.
