Search for missing man continues

MESICK -- Authorities continue to search for a Mesick man believed to have drowned in the Manistee River.

The Wexford County sheriff's office resumed searching for Donald Spoor, 33, on Saturday near the river north of Mesick. Days of searching thus far have been unsuccessful.

Spoor was at the river with friends and jumped from a zip line into the water about 3:45 p.m. Aug. 31 near M-37 and Riverview Road, police said.

Several local police and sheriff's departments, state police troopers, the Department of Natural Resources, corrections officers from the Pugsley Correctional Facility near Kingsley and the Coast Guard have assisted in the search, as well as Spoor's friends and family, authorities said.
