TRAVERSE CITY -- City commissioners opted to hold off their appeal of the state Department of Natural Resources's decision that bars the city from expanding swim areas or establishing "no-boat mooring" sections near the beach.
They recently learned the DNR, according to its own policy, should have held a public hearing before making the original determination.
The city this month appealed the decision with the state Natural Resources Commission, but commissioners agreed to put that on hold while they wait for the DNR's hearing and subsequent ruling.
