Woman faces assault charges

TRAVERSE CITY -- A woman faces felonious assault charges.

Grand Traverse sheriff's deputies late Monday went to a residence on Boone Road in Long Lake Township on a report of a female being assaulted in her home by a female suspect. The suspect allegedly struck the victim on the head and face about six times with a beer bottle. After the assault, the suspect fled and took the victim's purse.

At about 3 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy saw a vehicle matching a description of the suspect vehicle at 7-Eleven on Barlow Street. The suspect, 26, was in the vehicle with the purse. Deputies arrested her, and felonious assault charges are being sought.
