Mancelona -- The Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies will host a program titled "Preserving Our Natural Heritage: Native Plants and Native Butterflies."
The free program will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the institute, 7526 Sunset Trail NE.
Vern Stephens will discuss the use of native plants in landscaping at 1 p.m. and Duke Elsner will bring his butterfly collection and offer tips for butterfly identification at 2 p.m.
Participants will be able to visit the institute's butterfly house and native plant garden There also will be a native plant sale and a butterfly count.
