Expect delays on Silver Lake roads

TRAVERSE CITY -- Road construction delays will move to a 5-mile stretch of West Silver Lake and Silver Lake roads starting Monday morning as part of Grand Traverse County's $4 million in summer road improvement projects.

Weather permitting, contractors will begin paving West Silver Lake Road at U.S. 31 in Grawn Monday and move north to the intersection of Silver Lake and South Airport Road. Work is expected to continue through Wednesday with road sections reduced to one lane with flag control during construction.

County road officials noted that traffic fines are doubled in work zones, and they advise motorists to avoid the area if possible.
