Man faces domestic violence charge

TRAVERSE CITY -- A Traverse City man faces a domestic violence charge after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend for the second time in less than a year.

Jason August Blood, 35, is charged with felony second-offense aggravated domestic violence.

Blood allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in his Traverse City apartment July 6, court records show. Police said he grabbed her by the throat and struck her in the left side of her head, forcing the right side of her head into a wall.

The assault left bruising and swelling to the woman's head, police said, and caused her to black out.

Blood previously was convicted of assaulting the same woman in April.
