Lack of permit leads to man's arrest

TRAVERSE CITY -- Police arrested a man who allegedly had a concealed weapon without a permit.

A Traverse City police officer saw a vehicle driving the wrong way on Front Street at about midnight Thursday.

The officer stopped the vehicle and approached the car.

When the driver opened his glove box to look for his registration, the officer allegedly noticed a handgun.

The man, 63, of Saginaw, does not have a concealed weapons permit. He was arrested.

The suspect was jailed and is expected to be charged with carrying a concealed weapon, driving while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
