TRAVERSE CITY -- An Interlochen man on probation* for a theft-related conviction is back in jail and faces two new felonies for allegedly stealing a pistol from a friend's home.
Jonathon David Gilland, 22, allegedly removed a single-shot pistol from a display case at an Interlochen home on May 29 after he walked away from a Michigan Department of Corrections transition home.
Police reports indicated there were two warrants out for Gilland's arrest at the time of the alleged theft.
Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Alan Schneider charged Gilland with larceny, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and being a habitual offender.
