Dedication ceremony for Sayler Park is Sat.

FROM STAFF REPORTS

ACME -- A dedication ceremony to unveil renovations at Acme Township's Sayler Park will be held Saturday starting at noon.

Upgrades including a new slide, swings, carousel and other playground equipment, paid for by a grant from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. The Elk Rapids AMVETS Color Guard will begin the ceremony, followed by remarks from tribal Chairman Derek Bailey, township Supervisor Wayne Kladder and Owen Sherberneau, chairman of the township's parks committee.

Rick Sayler, whose family donated part of the park to the township in 1903, also will discuss the park's history. It's located off U.S. 31 North in Yuba, about five miles north of the M-72 intersection.
