Police make another arrest in drug death

PETOSKEY -- An East Jordan woman faces a felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance causing death, the same crime her son just pleaded guilty to.

Sally Brown, 63, was arrested by Emmet County Sheriff's deputies for her alleged involvement in the March 2007 death of Jeff Cox, 30, of Springvale Township. Brown allegedly gave her prescribed Fentanyl to her son, Michael Scott, 43, of Bliss Township, who in turn delivered it to the victim, authorities said.

Scott, who remains held at Emmet County Jail, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to felony delivery of a controlled substance causing death and will be sentenced July 7 in 57th Circuit Court in Petoskey. He faces life in prison.

Brown currently is free on bond and is scheduled to be arraigned June 25. She also faces life in prison.
