Assisted-living residents can stay put

TRAVERSE CITY -- Residents of Traverse City's French Manor Inn won't be evicted.

Traverse City native Keith Christopher, 66, took control of the Seventh Street property on a court-appointed receivership Friday, he said. He's in the process of informing family members of the 19 residents that they won't have to leave.

Christopher and his wife have owned and run several senior houses in the area, and he said he's started the process of purchasing French Manor Inn. A bank foreclosed on the property, which until recently was owned by Trish Gilroy.

Christopher said he will retain the facility's employees.
