TRAVERSE CITY -- A downstate man faces felony charges for a break-in and theft from a Subway restaurant in Interlochen.
Robert Schafer Devries, 27, of Farmington Hills, is charged with breaking and entering and larceny, and is charged as a habitual offender. He could spend 10 years in prison, if convicted.
Devries' record includes a January 2006 conviction for attempted felony armed robbery in Ann Arbor, court records show.
Devries allegedly broke into the restaurant early May 24 and was captured on surveillance tape. A Grand Traverse County sheriff's deputy recognized him.
Just under $300 was stolen and Devries was caught with $287 in cash. He was staying with his grandparents in Interlochen, authorities said.
Devries is set to appear in 86th District Court on June 8 for a preliminary examination.
