May 25, 2008 04:00 am TRAVERSE CITY A local man who allegedly altered a money order faces a criminal charge. Lige Hood Johnson, 46, is charged with one count of uttering and publishing after city police arrested him Thursday. Johnson lived with a Traverse City woman in March. He allegedly told police he altered a money order the woman wrote for her mother and made it payable to himself and took it to a bank for payment. The woman told police she didn't give Johnson the money order or authorize him to alter it. Johnson faces a June 3 preliminary examination.
