TRAVERSE CITY -- Folgarelli's Market reopens at 9:30 a.m. today after bankruptcy forced it shut for more than a month.

"We feel strongly we'll be able to work things out amicably with the bank," said Donna Folgarelli, who runs the European-style shop and deli at 424 W. Front St.

She hopes to soon recoup inventory and equipment claimed by Traverse City State Bank, which took over after previous owner Newco 424 W. Front St. LLC filed for bankruptcy.

Folgarelli credits her friends for morally and financially backing her throughout the situation. Shop patrons also showed support by sending letters, calling, knocking on the storefront door and honking as they drive by.

"It's been unbelievable," she said.

New Folgarelli-label products should be released in the next few weeks. They'll include barbecue sauce, garlic marinade and cherry vinaigrette.

The market's adjoining wine shop remains closed until Folgarelli obtains a new liquor license.
