Officials who OK'd waste contract

TRAVERSE CITY -- Eleven people on two boards voted in favor of approving a contract with CMS that they never saw; some of them did so twice.

Members of the Grand Traverse County Sewer and Water Committee who approved the contract April 8 include:

-- Rob Manigold, Peninsula Township supervisor.

-- Glen Lile, East Bay Township supervisor.

-- Chuck Korn, Garfield Township supervisor.

-- Wayne Kladder, Acme Township supervisor.

-- Jack Kelly, Elmwood Township supervisor.

-- Pat Pahl, committee chairman and Blair Township supervisor

-- Bruce Hooper, Grand Traverse County commissioner.

-- Bob Cole, Traverse City Director of Public Services.

Members of the Board of Public Works who approved the contract sight unseen on April 27 include:

-- Hooper, Lile and Pahl, who is also BPW chairman.

-- Marvin Radtke, rural township representative.

-- Carl Studzinski, member at large.

-- Peter Neithercut, member at large.

Traverse City Commissioner Chris Bzdok and county Drain Commissioner Kevin McElyea were both absent from the BPW vote.
