One person died and another was injured after a sport utility vehicle collided with a logging truck south of Alba.

The crash happened about 1:10 p.m. Thursday, when the driver of the southbound SUV apparently crossed the center line on U.S. 131 near Corey Road and struck the semi, Antrim County Sheriff Terry Johnson said.

The collision killed the SUV driver, and the passenger was flown to Traverse City's Munson Medical Center in critical condition, Johnson said. The semi driver was treated at the scene.

The accident caused the semi's fuel tank to rupture, and a roughly four-mile stretch of the highway was closed for several hours to clean up.
